Overview

TabFindr is a Chrome extension that helps you see, search and organise the tabs you already have open. This policy explains what information TabFindr processes, where it is stored, and what it is used for.

TabFindr does not have a user account, does not run a cloud backend, and does not sell or share your browsing information. Everything TabFindr needs to work is processed and stored locally in your own browser.

What TabFindr processes

To display your open tabs and provide its features, TabFindr may locally process:

  • Tab titles
  • Tab URLs
  • Favicons
  • Tab state, such as pinned, muted or window grouping
  • Workspaces you create
  • Tags you create and apply
  • Your TabFindr settings and appearance preferences
  • Optional page thumbnails, if enabled
  • An optional local background image, if you set one

This information is used only to power TabFindr's own features, such as showing your tabs visually, letting you search them, and organising them into Workspaces and Tags.

Where data is stored

TabFindr stores this information locally in your browser, using storage mechanisms provided by Chrome such as extension storage and IndexedDB. None of it is transmitted to TabFindr or to any third party server. If you uninstall TabFindr or clear your browser's site data for the extension, this locally stored information is removed along with it.

Optional thumbnails

Real page thumbnail previews are an optional feature. When thumbnails are enabled, Chrome will ask for permission for TabFindr to access the content of pages you have open, so that it can capture a preview image of each tab.

Those preview images are processed and stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to TabFindr or to any third party. Thumbnails can be turned off at any time in TabFindr's settings, and TabFindr remains fully usable without this permission, showing tab titles, domains and favicons instead.

Custom background image

If you choose to set a custom background image for your TabFindr dashboard, that image is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.

No account, no sale of data

TabFindr does not require an account or login of any kind.

  • TabFindr does not sell your personal data or browsing information.
  • TabFindr does not use your data for advertising or ad targeting.
  • TabFindr does not operate a cloud service that stores your tab data.

Data security

TabFindr relies on the security of your browser and device to protect locally stored data. While reasonable care is taken in how TabFindr is built, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and TabFindr cannot guarantee absolute security of information stored on your device.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to TabFindr or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of TabFindr after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
